Last year, four schools participated in the first annual Sasquatch Superbowl. These were third and fourth grade students who had read the Sasquatch Nominee Books. The finals were held in the boardroom of the Bellingham Public Schools District Office. This year there will be two separate contests; one for fourth graders and one for fifth graders. The Northern Heights Finals will be on April 4th and the City Finals will be on April 16th at the Bellingham Public Library.

The Sasquatch Superbowl takes place in a "knowledge bowl" format where teams for four are asked questions based on the books which make up the Sasquatch Reading Award. Fifth graders also answer questions from books in the Young Reader's Choice Award Program.

Students are meeting every Wednesday from 12:45 until 1:10 in the library to practice. During the practice students create and work on special crossword puzzles related to the books, discuss the books, and answer practice questions. The excitement continues to build as we get nearer to the competition dates.
